AbroadEd could confirm that the COVID-19 pandemic played a huge role in making e-learning more mainstream. According to the annual report from Higher Ed, about half of the professors surveyed agree that e-learning has become part of their effective teaching method.
Higher education institutions have greatly blended online learning and traditional classroom teaching methods. The high increase in the adoption of e-learning could be greatly attributed to the global pandemic experienced in 2020.
A specialist at AbroadEd also noted that innovative technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) had greatly contributed to this significant adoption of e-learning.

The state of e-learning before the global pandemic
Before the global pandemic, only limited institutions had resources for students to study online. It was indeed not common for the student to complete their course online without visiting a traditional classroom in the pre-Covid era.
AbroadEd could confirm that the COVID-19 pandemic forced several higher education institutions (HEI) across the globe to move to online distance learning. Now, most universities have their programs available online for students to enroll in without being at the physical location of the institution.
Though many online learning platforms went up during the pandemic, it took a lot of work. The transition phases saw different issues ranging from IT problems, difficulty with Internet access, and lack of technical knowledge around digital resources among lecturers and students.
The shift was gradual, but successful. Higher education institutions carefully plan and implement to encourage lecturers and students to embrace e-learning.
