Professors and Students View Digital Education Differently

While professors and students view digital education differently, AbroadEd opines that the relevance of online education in today’s world cannot be overlooked. The peculiarity of today’s world has made digital education inevitable for the involvement of both students and professors.

In the words of Kristen Fox, Tyton Partners’ managing director: “There is a lot that is hard and challenging and not working currently as much as we’d want it to in the higher education. But I must commend the promise and silver lining, in the creativity, the real dedication of instructors to understand what their student challenges and needs are, and to adjust their use of teaching practice and digital pedagogies to serve the needs of learners”.

AbroadEd could confirm that more than half of faculty members surveyed say they prefer face-to-face classes over hybrid or online class delivery. On the other hand, about 70% of the students prefer at least some virtual instructional model compared to the traditional model.

Similarly, over 75% of students opined that they prefer digital course materials over print because digital courses help them gain additional technical skills that will be useful for them in the future.

Challenges facing students in digital education

While students choose digital education over the traditional method of education, they still highlight certain challenges they face when learning online.

According to AbroadEd, students generally have a different level of access to a computer and consistent internet service than the professors.

Therefore, many students experience stress because of a lack of consistent computer access and inconsistent internet access when learning virtually.
